JAD/JAR to COD/ALX Converter

Have you ever wait too long for download Blackberry application using Blackberry Internet Service via Over The Air Download because server is very crowded?! I just want to share how to install offline Blackberry application. First step, download converter jad/jar to cod/alx in the link below and then download your own application (*.jad or *.jar) from your source via desktop or notebook.  Next, you must convert jad/jar into *.cod and *.alx. Finally now you can install it on your own device offline via Blackberry desktop manager using *.alx file that you have been converted!

How to use :
  • JADMaker
    • Extract zip files that contain JADMaker folder or directory and make sure that 4 files : JADMaker.exe, JADMaker.txt, config.xml (will be created if not found) and unzip32.dll are in the same directory.
    • Run JADMaker. Drag and drop a JAR file onto the window. JAD generated. That's it!
    • Drag and drop a JAR file onto the JADMaker.exe icon in a Windows Explorer window. This means you can also create a desktop shortcut to JADMaker.exe, and then drop JAR file(s) onto the shortcut.
    • Once the "Make JAD" Explorer Context-Menu extension is enabled (by checking it in the program),
you can right click on any JAR file(s) for a quick "Make JAD".
  • JAR to ALX
    • Download the Latest Blackberry JDE from Blackberry site.
    • In the folder you just extracted navigate to the JADMaker folder and double click JADMaker.exe. Leave the JadMaker 1.15 program running in the background.
    • What ever Jar Files you're trying to convert should be placed in the "jar files" folder which is in the folder you extracted to your desktop. So copy and paste your jar files, or download your jar files into that folder.
    • After you placed the jar files in the "jar files" folder, drag the jar files one by one, onto the window of the JADMaker 1.15 program you left running. This will create the JAD file needed for conversion through J2A.
    • Next Run the "BSC - Jar to ALX (J2A).exe" in the main folder you extracted to your desktop. Click start and follow the directions very carefully. When it asks for the Jar Files to convert. Navigate to the "jar files" folder in the folder which you extracted to your desktop. Then choose which file you want to convert.
    • When it asks if you would like to convert anymore files, click no, and the files will then convert. The finished COD and ALX files will be saved in the folder you picked to save into.
  • JAR to COD
    • Install the J2SE SDK and JRE.
    • In your Windows Explorer, go to any directory that is included in your standard PATH (for example c:\windows would do), right-click and do New -> Text File. Call this text file "Mid2Cod.bat" and say "yes" on the question if you are sure to change the extension.
    • Copy and paste the batch file text that I have attached on download link.
    • Make sure that the path after "SET JDEPATH=....." is correct for your installation of the JDE.
    • Save and exit from the editor.
    • Download your MidLet (.JAD and .JAR files) into some directory. Do Start->Run and type "cmd" (without the "") followed by .
    • In the DOS window, change directory (using "cd") to go to the directory where you stored your MidLet.
    • Connect your Blackberry to the USB port, and type "Mid2Cod filename" followed by . Note, that the "" should not be typed, and that the filename must NOT have a .JAR or .JAD extension. So, for the "CaptureIt" Midlet (CaptureIt.jad / CaptureIt.jar), type "Mid2Cod CaptureIt".
    • Follow what's happening on the screen. After a while, it asks you to press a key to continue (if all went well). If you do so, the .COD file will be uploaded to your BB. If you are not ready to upload at that time, press CTRL-C.

Troubleshooting :
Required windows dll :
  • msvbvm60.dll (VB runtime adn MS scripting)
  • scrrun.dll
  • mscomctl.ocx
  • msxml3.dll
* When I try to run JADMaker, it dies with the following error: Component 'MSCOMCTL.OCX' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid If you encounter this error, you will need to install the file MSCOMCTL.OCX to your computer.
Download sites:
- MSCOMCTL.OCX

* When I try to run JADMaker, it dies with the following error: The file 'MSVBVM60.DLL' cannot be found. MSVBVM60.DLL is a support file required to run any Visual Basic 6 program. If you encounter this error, you will need to install the 'Visual Basic 6.0 Runtime Module'.

* When I try to run JADMaker, it dies with the following error(s):
Run-time error '429' ActiveX component can't create object
Run-time error '-2147221231 (80040111)': Automation error ClassFactory cannot supply requested class. The error that you have encountered is caused by some VB runtime and MS scripting files not being properly installed or uninstalled from the system. One way that the run-time error 429 occurs is when one of the components that is needed by the program is not registered correctly. The File System object is contained in the Scrrun.dll file. Make certain that this DLL file is installed on the target computer, and that it is correctly registered.

* When I try to run JADMaker, it dies with the following error:
Run time error '430': Class does not support Automation or does not support expected interface. This error message does not mean that there is something wrong with MDAC. It means that some DLL file, which is referenced from the application, is missing. However it is recommended that you get your system updated to MDAC 2.5 SP3 or higher.

* When I try to run JADMaker, it dies with the following error:
Run-time error '53': File not found or MANIFEST.MF not found in ...
The program checks for a file "MANIFEST.MF" in your .JAR file. Please check manually that you have a valid .JAR file.
